Profile

Introduction

Sonia Silve is a COSRT-registered Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist with over 30 years experience working in Health and Social Care. Alongside her private practice, she has worked in the NHS in a Female Sexual Function Clinic within a Clinical Health Psychology Department. Her background includes extensive work in trauma, child protection, substance use, and supporting individuals and families experiencing complex life challenges.

Philosophy

Sonia believes that meaningful change happens when people are given the space, safety, and support to become curious about themselves and their experiences. She understands that difficulties with sex, intimacy, and relationships are often connected to wider life experiences, including trauma, attachment, health conditions, identity, and life transitions. Her work is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and the belief that there is always hope for change.

Approach

Sonia works integratively, tailoring therapy to the unique needs of each individual, couple, or relationship structure. She values working collaboratively with clients, creating a shared understanding of goals and regularly reviewing progress together. Alongside talking therapy, she may incorporate creative and body-based approaches where helpful, including somatic work, grounding techniques, timelines, and reflective exercises between sessions. Her aim is to help clients reconnect with themselves, understand patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and build confidence in creating meaningful change.

What it feels like to work with Sonia

Sonia is warm, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. She offers a space where people feel heard, accepted, and able to discuss topics that may feel difficult, sensitive, or shame-filled. She brings compassion, curiosity, and humour into the therapy room, helping clients feel supported while gently encouraging growth and self-discovery. Sonia believes therapy should feel collaborative and empowering, helping clients leave with greater understanding, practical tools, and renewed hope for the future.
